Cetyl M Joint Action Formula for Dogs Recall 4/14/2010  Response Products reports that the product's vegetable beef flavoring, hydrolyzed vegetable protein had detected Salmonella in Basic Food's facility.

Internet Free Puppy Scam 3/18/2010 Happened upon Mitch Lipka's "Consumer Ally" column that pointed to a scam involving "Free to good home" puppies complete with stories of personal tragedies.  When you contact them they say they just need you to pay purchase costs...  You can guess the rest.  Check out this link to the ASPCA that points out this scam and others.

EPA to Increase Restrictions on Flea and Tick Products 3/17/2010 There are many EPA-registered pesticide products on the market today to treat your pets for fleas and ticks. When used according to label instructions and precautions, pet products can be very effective, but when misapplied or not used according to directions, your pets may be unnecessarily exposed to pesticides and could become ill. 

EPA Cautions consumers to use products with extra care 3/17/2010 EPA recommends that owners consult a veterinarian about the best way to protect their pets from fleas and ticks or whether pesticides are needed.

Nature's Variety Recall Expanded to include ALL RAW FROZEN CHICKEN DIETS 3/11/2010 with any "Best If Used By" Date on or before 2/5/11

Nature's Variety Chicken Formula Raw Frozen Diet for dogs and cats 2/13/2010  Class 1 recall by the USFDA and US Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Merrick Beef Filet Squares for Dogs 1/14/2010  Class 1 recall by the USFDA and US Agriculture's Food safety and Inspection Service due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Pet Carousel Beef Hooves & Pig Ears 12/9/2009  Nationwide recall because of possible contamination with Salmonella.  Product names:  Pet Carousel, Choo Hooves, Pork Tasteez, Doggie Delight, and Dentley's.  Link to FDA website.

Swine Flu infecting cats 11/18/2009  Cases are trickling in of the H1N1 flu infecting household cats.  It is believed that the cats caught the virus from family in the househokld that were sick with the Swine Flu.  This influenza had been previously documented in humans, pigs, birds, and ferrets.

Petsmart Dentley's Beef Hoof/Hooves treat recall 11/4/2009 Information regardiong voluntary recall due to potential Salmonella contamination. 

Vetsulin insulin recall 11/2/2009  This product from Intervet/Schering-Plough may be unstable.  Please monitor your pet closely for classic signs of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia.  The classic signs of hyperglycemia include thirst, increased urination, weight loss, and lethargy.  The classic signs of hypoglycemia would include disorientation, unsteadiness, weakness, lethargy, and seizures.  If your pet is using this insulin (Vetsulin) and you are at all concerned or have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us.

Pennsylvania SPCA facilities quarantined after possible Flu outbreak 6/2/09  Six dogs at 2 Philadelphia shelters have died within the last week.  Symptoms include cough, runny nose, and fever.  Facilities have been closed while lab results are pending and are being sanitized in the meantime.  Information courtesy of NBC10.com.

NUTRO Dry Cat Food Recall 5/21/09  Nutro noticed that they had the incorrect amounts of two essential nutrients (Zinc & Potassium) in two of their cat foods that were formulated in the United States.  Although there have been no complaints, they are recalling these products and offering full refunds.

Mars Petcare voluntary recall 9/12/08  Mars Petcare US announced a voluntary recall of products manufactured at its Everson, Pennsylvania facility. The pet food is being voluntarily recalled because of potential contamination with Salmonella serotype Schwarzengrund. This voluntary recall only affects the United States.

Canine Influenza 8/25/08 The dog flu has actually been around since 2005, but has recently become more prominent in and around southern New Jersey.

Local Kitten diagnosed with Rabies 7/22/08  In Burlington County, a recently adopted free-roaming kitten without a known history of bite wounds or of other rabies exprosure presented to the veterinarian with a fever, but then deteriorated.
